Friendly Repro Center

I've bounced so many ideas around for my center block. I knew I wanted to use 1930s repros.  The quilts I love most and that inspire me were made by my grandmothers and great-grandmother using feedsacks and fabric from clothing. Most of those would have been from the 30s and 40s. So I wanted to honor them and acknowledge their inspiration.  I considered several possible appliques and a number of traditional blocks and then I saw a Friendship Star Wreath. It was done in all neutrals.. white back ground with tan stars. Honestly that didn't do much for me, but I loved the layout and I could see it made with repros against a lovely white background. I wasn't sure what size HSTs and squares were used so I had to play around with that a bit. Finally settled on 2 1/2" unfinished. That was as small as I was willing to go!  There are imperfections and one star that just never would play nice.. but I decided that is ok. For one this.. this is a for fun project.. and also we are all wonderful but not perfect and over the years we have had a few members who didn't play nice (none still here!).  So I think that off kilter block fits! Here you go..... my friendly repro center...

Step Two - Nobody Puts Baby In A Corner

This is probably the most famous line from one of my most favorite movies of all time. And I bet a lot of you will know where it came from.

So for step two - let's celebrate the corner. Put a border around your center block and put something fun and interesting in the corners of the round.

Oh - and let's see some finished center blocks!

Hello! :)

Oh, so nice to see you all posting! :)

Have you all decided on your fabric colours?  Have you all decided what your middle will be? Have you actually sewn it? :) :)

I went to visit a friend and we were talking about this quilt and others.  She was jolly helpful, I must say.  I had written down my ideas, who I would make the quilt for and possible colours.  But I didnt actually like the sound of any of it and it was all getting very complicated (2 quilts, 2 different sets of colours? Maybe 3 quilts - eek!)

So - and you may hold me to this! - my quilt will be made for Luke, the colours will be white, navy blue and scarlet (not too much!) and there will be circles in the middle - and it wont be complicated lol.  Don't let me change my mind......

And guess what, we were given a weekend away for our Christmas present from all our boys, and we are going first thing tomorrow morning (well that's the theory but I have just got in from babysitting, am wide awake at ten minutes to midnight and have not found any clothes to take yet, so it may be a bit later)

And the first port of call will be a quilt shop!  Very excited.  Wheeee.....

My Center Block

It's me, it's me, it's Ernest T.!!   (little reference to Mayberry there)  I made it in.  😆

I finally got my center block done!  Better late than never, right?  Question:  Do any of you recognize this block from another group project we did a few years ago?  💝
